Not my tractor but I picked a load of ear corn with a WD and mounted picker yesterday at a friends place. Always a good time over at Dan's. Today, going to get my WD out and clean the seed out of the drill. Left it in there thinking I'd seed around the new buildings this fall..... Well, it's so dry weeds won't even grow!

I got the 7580 back in the field. I bought this tractor last spring. It wasn't running at the time, and was advertised as a parts tractor. The front PTO shaft bearing had gone out and exploded the driveshaft. I did a lot of work over the summer, and just barely got it back in the field. Hopefully going to get a few more things done before next year, like sandblast and paint the rims, install some fenders and get some wiring fixed. Maybe add three point if it works out.

Yesterday, drove one of my Red girls, (856), to a local plow day. My buddy Dan pulled the WFE 45 up on the trailer. I plowed with the 8 for awhile and Dan the 45. After lunch I showed him how to run the 856 and semi-mount Oliver plow. He picked it up pretty quickly and I took a few rounds on the 45. Good news on this front, my coulter work seems to have helped and the 73 did as good a job as any of the small rigs. Ground was insanely hard! Some of the bigger semi-mounts were even floating up out of the ground at times.

Sold a little Allis 912 garden tractor so I moved around some stuff in the "keep" pile. This loader sure has been handy. |

In the garden yesterday, ran the No. 4 sub-soiler with the NFE 45. Plowed the first furrow with the WFE 45. Then the experimentation began. Plowed a few passes with the D-15 and 62 plow. It's really a 63 that has been cut down. At any rate, it didn't work too bad. Then the curiosity bug bit me, put the 52 on to see if it would go in the ground. Well, not the best. Did eventually get it to plow, just not well. Ground was like concrete, looks nasty today. Decided to just finish with the 45. So I used two tractors and three plows to do about 1/4 acre. 6080 was on loader duty as always.

Cleaned up and repainted the brackets for the heat houser since that will be going back on soon. The jam bolt holes on the lower brackets were worn out so I drilled to the next size, tapped the threads and gave them new hardware. Got as close to the original green as I could.

Got D-17-2 running, (barely) and moved it to a different building. I think the real problem is rust in the sediment bowl neck. I'll chase that another day.

Harrowed the driveway with CA-2. That seems to be it's main job and it's perfect for it. Got the 720 running and brought it to the house in preparation for winter. Not sure exactly where it will sleep this winter just yet. Trying to get things organized before that frozen stuff flies.

That's always a good feeling! I am a proponent of good tires on tractors, or anything else for that matter.

Did a little stalk chopping with the 185, with a D-17 gas tank strapped to the wheel. Shot some video, will post a link when I get it uploaded. Just need to get the media and diesel fuel out and wash it up. Should be ready to go back on after that.
