I have 3 belt pulleys 2 locked up and one turns free. I bought the one that turns free at an auction and it was wraped in canvas and packed with grease. I want to pull the pulley off and sandblast it. My question is does it have a seal I should replace? My second question is should I just get a delete plate and not use it? It's just a show tractor. Is the pulley hard to remove?

The pulley is not that hard to remove, just pull out the set screw and remove. Just remember if it is installed, every time you have the tractor running and the clutch out it will be spinning. I think there is a way to pull it out of gear and pinch the set screw down so it doesn't spin when the tractor is running. I have always taken mine out when I'm not using it.

Hi Thad.
You can pull it out about 3 inches to disengage the pulley, just out of reach of the gear teeth. Test spin it to see if you feel/hear anything that indicates gear teeth contact. Pretty simple deal. HTH. Jim
