Benny, the IDI was gone on the Ford diesel in 94.5. The 93 and 94 had the IDI turbo. The 94.5 had the 1st gen Powerstroke but was derated and un badged. The 95 was the first year for the Powerstroke badging. A 94.5 was badged a Turbo Diesel, but was under rated as to not over power the "new arrival".

1995 F-150 4 x 4. 4.9(300 CI) I-6. 5 speed. Got power windows, locks, and AC. Does all I need it to. Nice straight body. Original paint and no rust. 6 cylinder pulls like a mule down low. Doesn't like the interstate too much, but it will hold it's own.

And this is the one I wish I still had. 1973 F-100 Ranger SB. Stupid move selling that one.
I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

Adam (Sandknob), those are awesome trucks. If someone says they don't like them it is because they know the old Dodge's can out do their trucks.

You will have to post some pics of the one after you get it finished. Mine (1991 Dodge W150 318 auto) is also getting a major reworking.

Good Luck,
Jeremy

Here is my latest.  Its a 82 Dodge D100 longbed with 318 and the A833OD transmission (four speed overdrive manual).  The transmission is WORE out, but it runs good and I can shift it okay, everyone else hates it.

Here is the 84 D250 I purchased a couple of years ago for $300.  Its undergoing a full body off restoration right now.  Just about have it all back together.  Just have doghouse to paint, and then reassembly.

A word to the wise.....watch out for 18 inch tires on one ton pickups. Wow, they are pricey!

This is my 2006 F350 6.0 Diesel. I won't brag about fuel economy, but it is way better than the F250 with a 460 gasser and no overdrive that it replaced. It is a lot of fun to drive. Years ago I had a 6.9 naturally aspirated diesel that was a real pooch. I was really surprised how lively the diesels are anymore! This is my current trailer pictured, too.
Here it is with previous trailer:
I always have this option locally-I don't want to mess with medical cards and log books and permits to go out of state with it, even though by all rights, I should use them with the F350 and trailer-but hope I can play dumb when the time comes. (I think I have the qualities to pull it off.)
I have an older Ranger that I will buzz around in sometimes. It is an ebay special. It is a lot handier in parking lots for sure. (who decided to make the spots so tiny, anyhow?)

Yeah it is a pretty serious turbo but it is old technology and I don't know if it would spool on my truck and if it did I would probably be at the red line.  I bought it for 20 bucks and it spins real nice, I was thinking about putting it on my John Deere D for looks and running a pipe off it to make it look like the intake side was hooked up

here is a picture of it

I knew it was a factory and aftermarket option.  I have turbo I was thinking about usin to do a remote mount but I don't know if it would be to big to actually work on my truck.  It is from a semi it is a schwitzer/cummins T46 and it is huge, but if it was just a little to big I could possibly run it without a waste gate as I don't need the power to pass everybody while I am pulling 20,000 lbs I just don't like taking hills on the freeway at 45mph.

Find a junkyard truck with an IDI 7.3 with a turbo, turn you're fuel up a bit and you'll notice a huge gain....my first dually was a 7.3 IDI turbo...ran about 11psi boost tops and ran way better than a naturally aspirated one....pretty straightforward swap really.

For my daily driver I have a 98 Ford F-150 XL extended cab 4X4 with the 4.6L, 4R70 auto trans and manual shift transfer case.  I got this truck from my dad who bought it new.  He bought it to drive it and get rid of it.  Some dealers didn't want to order it for him because he wanted a base package with no carpet or power anything, he told them the only options he wanted were automatic transmission, 4X4, and air conditioning.  The truck now has about 173,000 miles and no major failures yet (knock on wood).  My tractor hauler is a 1990 F-350 XLT 2wd, 5spd, 7.3 idi na diesel with 133,000 miles that I have had for about 6 years and love it for towing my 25 foot gooseneck but wish I had a little (a lot) more power sometimes .  I can not complain about it though it has never let me down and averages about 15 miles to the gallon loaded as long as you keep the speed under 70mph. I would like to put a turbo on it but it costs more than I paid for the truck for a kit to do it.

Always been a Ford guy, but had an 01 QC Ram cummins dually for a year after having an 04 F150 supercrew. Could not stand the lack of cab space in the QC, so I traded for an 07 Mega-Cab, 5.9L cummins, 6 speed 4X4 dually. Really like the truck, LOVE the CUMMINS! I just prefer 6 cylinder diesels to V8's. Truck had EDGE Juice w/attitude monitor(came with truck) Smarty tuner, S&B intake, 4" straight piped exh, and STERLING BULLET grill.

My 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. I got it last year, my first truck.  Been driving my dads GMC for the first 2 1/2 years of driving and really liked manual transmissions and got lucky and found this one at a reasonable price.    John

dont pull a camper or  heavy anymore. Sold the F250 and bought this 2001 F150 4 x 4 . Really like the Crew cab. 5.4 V8 gets 17 MPg summer  drive. Pull a car trailer to pickup more Bs and construction materials.

RW, Your not too far away from me. Only I've had my liscense for two years. You have two to go.....Save the criticism about the plate. I put it on before I got on this site! I just ran outside and took a picture the way it sits. 1999 Ford F-250 SD, 7.3 Diesel with auto tranny and 128K. I don't like automatics and i couldn't find a good dodge or ford diesel with the manual tranny so I ended up going with this. No rust on the body at all. It's one truck that has been taken care of very well. It doesn't look very nice now but in the summer when I wax it and shine the wheels up that baby sparkles. I have a meyers 7.5' plow on the front right now. The mods it has is a bully dog 6 posistion chip, MBRP 4" stainless the whole way back, Air Raid air intake, Under Cover hard bed cover (took it off for convenience reasons), Kenwood Stereo and Sony X-plod speakers. I never use the bully dog. No need. Towed my farmall (at least 10K) the whole way back up and down pretty good hills. I hate the way the transmission isn't good at getting power to my wheels though. The air intake is ok but when it's pulling good up a long hill it just screams and that's all I heard for two and a half hours bringing my farmall home. I had a slight headache. I have all of the paperwork for it since it was brand new so I can see all the service records and what was replaced. Got it for 13,200 with the plow and all the mods. Only thing i've done to it is the stereo and the speakers. I added ford decals to my back windows and stuck a plate on the front. I've had it since Oct 09' and my pap gave me a liscense plate to put on the front which explains the "animal".

A Chev 2500HD Ext Cab Short Box 6.0 L Auto 4wd.  It is a good truck but I am not real happy about all the fuel it drinks.  10 mpg pulling a trailer and 14 empty.  I think it should be getting at least 16 empty.  I was able to do that with my old 95 although it was a standard in its favour too.
