DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THE WHOLE SHIFTER & TOWER CAN BE CHANGED BETWEEN A WD TRANSMISSION & WD45 TRANSMISSION OR VISE VERSA?

I have to agree with MACK.  Remember the WD had straight gears while the very late WD's and the WD-45 had a constant mesh transmission.  You shifted collars and not gears.

Won't it work if you change the forks to match the transmission?
Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

THANKS GUYS , I DIDN'T THINK SO BUT A FRIEND CALLED ME ,SAID HE INHERITED A WD THAT THE SHIFT TOWER WAS OFF & HE TRIED TO PUT IT BACK ON BUT COULDN'T GET TO WORK. FIGURED OUT AFTERWARDS IT WAS AN EARLIER   WD BY SERIAL # & HE WAS TRYING TO PUT A BENT SHIFTER ON IT. TOLD I DIDN,T THINK IT WOULD WORK , BUT I'D ASK THE GUYS THAT KNOW.THANKS AGAIN.

Mack, you're going to have to have a talk with my WD45 then. I used a NOS WD shift tower with the innards from the WD45, and except for the springs being too long (so I used the shorter springs, It seems to work fine.
