DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THE WHOLE SHIFTER & TOWER CAN BE CHANGED BETWEEN A WD TRANSMISSION & WD45 TRANSMISSION OR VISE VERSA?

I have to agree with MACK.  Remember the WD had straight gears while the very late WD's and the WD-45 had a constant mesh transmission.  You shifted collars and not gears.
Good Luck!

Won't it work if you change the forks to match the transmission?

Mack, you're going to have to have a talk with my WD45 then. I used a NOS WD shift tower with the innards from the WD45, and except for the springs being too long (so I used the shorter springs, It seems to work fine.
