I used all kinds of things to clean the grease and mouse nests out of mine. Charlie probably has the best idea. Take the final off. That way, you can replace the seals and all the other good stuff in there. I would also recommend installing some kind of plug the the little critters wouldnt eat through, so they wouldnt build any more little condos in your tractor. As long as you will be keeping it inside, this should not cause a problem. Just keep them where they can still be removed for cleaning.
As for the pins, use plenty of penetrant(Kano or ATF/Acetone mix). I used a brass drift on mine. I actually bent it slightly, so it would get in the holes from the inside, and they eventually drove out. Works better if you're not in a hurry, and can beat on it some, then walk away and let soak. It will come out better, and you'll be less tired and aggravated. Good luck.
