doing some outside the box thinking

I recently sold my pulling stuff .Has not been picked up yet schedule differences . I am sure it will be though. I was looking at the rules which say agriculture motor use.  This allows the 292 chevy out of a combine . V8 chevys were also used in combines but the rule states no v8s . So I ponder cutting one bank off a v8 and making a cross flow 4 cylinder like the one the midget sprint cars run . I know 327 and 350 chevys were used in combines did any use a bbc .  I could just get more cubes with the big block . Small block sb2 heads are capable of flowing 400 cfm but they are usually around 163 cubic inches and 350 horse at 8000rpms in midget 4 cylinder form. Big Block chevy heads are capable of 400 to 500 cfm out of the box. Do you guys think it would make a season before rule change?

hmmm... if a truck has farm plates on it, is it 'agricultural' use ???? I know ,'splitting hairs'....... heck if the NASCAR guys  can drill out carb mounting bolts.......

Heres what I am thinking 4.625 bore 5.3 stroke bbc with one side cut off of it to make a 356 cubic inch four cylinder topped with a 12 degree 540cfm profiler head roller cam and lifters of any bbc variety.  I think second gear in a WC and 10 grand on the tack would fly down the track.

IH built such a critter for use in the Scout. I've only seen one and it was rather odd looking. Half of a V-8. It used the same head I'm told. It somewhat resembled the Chrysler slant 6.

I'll vouch for Brian's reference-  I had a '64 Scout 80 with a slant-four.  IH took off the driver's side bank (actually, they cast the block that way) and covered it with a stamped steel plate.  It was half of a 304, which made it a 152.  It was a rompin' stompin' machine... I could make zero-to-50 on a good day, but most days, it was tapped-out at 45mph.  It wasn't in the greatest state of tune, it was a right-hand drive (Ex-Postal-facto) and someone did a lousy job of spring-over-axle conversion, so it wasn't a good idea to go much past 45mph anyway.

I had one of those slant 4's in a 63 Scout I bought in Ohio, just after I got out of the Army in 1970.  Had a snow plow, which I put in the back.  Took 4 days to drive to Colorado.  Just about everything passed me on I 70 but it was a fun drive.  Sure nice to see the Rockies after nearly two years.  Must have had a couple gallons of bondo in it.  Drove it with the top off all summer then sold it in the fall to a campground for snow removal.  Probably went to China long ago.

also have a gleaner "g" with a 292 chev on it!

152cid, or the exact half of a 304 IH V8, Grandpa had a Scout 800 with the slat 4 in it. Ran good but lacked in the HP department quite a bit

I am thinking half of a bbc 632 ci up to a  805 ci . for 316 to 402 cubic inches.
