This is a follow up to my post yesterday.  The front rim on my D17 w/ loader is going bad.  The rim only has 10 hours on it.  Here is a picture of the hub.  There is a 1/4" groove on the hub where it makes contact with the center hole of the hub.

Shouldn't it be smooth?  Can I fill it in with a mig welder?

Yes, your hub is shot.  It looks like someone ground out around the edge of it for a wheel with a larger center hole, which isn't right.   I will take a picture of a good hub that I have and send it to you.   I do have a good set of hubs here and a good wheel also if you're interested in them.    I will get a picture loaded up.

Here is a picture of a good hub.   Notice how the center section is even with the dust cap so that there is a good spot for the rim to ride on.

If I were you, I would look at the other one and make sure that one is not modified or buggered up too.   If you need a set, let me know.   I know I have a couple good rims around here.   One or two are a little rusty, but I know I have one good one that must have been a replacement rim as it is like new.   The tire on it is junk though so I would have to demount that.   Let me know if your'e interested.

D15's came with 6 hole hubs as well as 5 hole, cause the set on my D15 are 6 hole.   Thanks Michael, you gave me a good idea of where to borrow a good set of rims/tires for my D17 so I don't have to buy a new set right away!!
