It depends on the size of the round baler. A guy in our community bales with a D 17, but his baler only makes about a 3 and a half foot bale. I've done some baling with my D 19 and a New Holland 850, and that's a load for it, I don't think a D 17 would handle it. HTH, Darrel

I've baled on a 17 Diesel Series IV with a 4x5 case IH baler.  no problem.  we'd run 15-20 seconds past the buzzer to get a tighter bale, it'd lug down a little bit right at the end....

I used an NH 847 auto-wrap on the D19, it makes a 4x5 bale. When the bale was about 2/3 the size of full it would make the old 19 talk. It was flat ground baling.

If a D-17 won't pull a small round baler, there's something wrong !  I have baled thousands of bales with a 160 and a 483 (4x4) New Idea or a MF 450 (4x5 closed throat )  I always baled in 2nd or 3rd gear high , hills and flat ground as well. HTH , Tom
