Are you talking about a hand clutch instead of the foot clutch pedal or the afermarket hand clutch (extra clutch) built by Sudenga Industries in George Iowa to get live PTO on WC's and WF's ?

The "extra clutch" was in place of the power lift and was installed to get live PTO for Roto Balers. I have one and have seen many more but they are not real common.

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

That is the additonal clutch to give WC tractors live power.  We have one of these, but is not installed on any of our tractors at the time.  It came on our '37 WC with a factory wide front.

Is it a true clutch? A couple of mine have the disengage lever but you have to use the real clutch to re-engage.

That was an after market dry clutch (real clutch).  TSC sold them in the early 50's.  There was also a run in oil clutch that looked similar to a Sherman overdrive.  Dave Ferguson and I took the top cover off one at Hutchinson about 10 years ago, to see what it was like inside. It had the overdrive in conjunction with the wet clutch.  Only one of those I've ever seen.
Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.

That would be night and day difference in the usefullness of my WC. I'd love to find one myself. It looks like a pretty big clutch should be tuff but I wonder how it would do being slipped all day like when you need to go slow through a big windrow.

The clutch itself is a 'Twin Disc'. One should not be that hard to find. The first one that I saw was at a dealer's lot in '93 and then I saw another one at another dealer's lot the same day. Told my uncle about it when I got home. It was old news to him. He installed one in 1951. I've seen about 10 over the years. If you go to the Sudenga website, they mention the 'Extra Clutch' as one of their early inovative products.

So it is just a handle that operates the foot clutch ? I Don't see the benefit ?

You would see the benefit if your left leg didn't work or wasn't there.
