I have a 442 baler that I have been told uses the same knotter assembly as New Holland balers. Which New Holland model would be similar to the 442?

Yup, same knotters as used by NH. A NH 273 or any NH from about the late 50's to the late 80's will have the same Rasspe knotter (Rasspe model 6004 if I remember right). Deere also used/uses Rasspe knotters - a slightly different model than NH, but many parts will interchange.

Rasspe Knotters. I got a 442 baler this spring and while it is fairly straight forward and simple I do recommend getting an owners manual. We just baled with ours for the first time this week, it ran like a champ aside from where I made the windrows too thick.
