I am reassembling the gear shift of my ED40 gear box.

how to insert the rod shift and have the springs compressed? It is difficult doing that with only 2 hands?

How to proceed?

is there a vertical pin hole to push the balls in, then slide a wire thru the pin hole to hold 3 balls.... then pull the wire out after rod is installed ??
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Make a T handle the size of rail. Grind a tapered V in the end to start over ball and spring. Start shaft through holes with  ball and spring. Rotate shaft to push ball down. Move to  next one and do same thing. Next push tool  back out with rail and forks as they are to be assembled.                    MACK
