I am fortunate to have some great young men about his age that work for me and just hang out here at my farm. The difference between this young man and these guys is in the upbringing and examples he has or has not been given by his elders. He seems kind of aimless and he could use some guidence, planting wheat and trying to raise livestock, or starting a mechanical project like fixing a tractor or a pickup without the proper knowledge or help can lead to frustration and ambivilance. Any one of my crew would jump for the chance to have a little ground and some old tractors to call their own. LOL

I wasn't going to post here untill I watched the vid of him dragging the engine in to the garage behind the garden tractor. Then he proceded to tell everyone he has to go back throught the engine because he couldn't get it to start (what????). So he tears the whole thing down on the floor (what????) is this boy doing???  Remind me to NOT buy parts from him on Epay. Maybe its not his fault, no mentoring is the problem.

One big mistake humans make in life is knowing when to not speak. Now with the Internet and sites like Facebook/YouTube,etc,etc, people are posting any/all information and life issues in there lives for the whole world to see/hear. It best to keep these private, life issues to yourself. I'm not advocating no speech, hibernating from the world, just good judgement and private matters kept private.

Not everyone in the world is how we would like them. I'm sure he isn't the only one. If you want him to return and ask questions here, please stop the slander. I think this has gone far enough. The more people say about the things he shouldn't do, nobody is offering advice as to what he should do. You can criticize me for saying this but please keep your opinions to yourself or take it to his youtube where he can decide to leave it or delete it.

What you have here is a kid that spends his time dragging junk home to his Mom's property. If he was smart he would sell all his inventory to collectors on here and a scrap yard for what he can so when he's 18 and Mom sends him down the road he can buy a running vehicle so he doesn't have to walk. In the short term he should put down the camera and start  cleaning the place up. Hope the old barn survives him as the post and beam timbers are worth money.

Think I seen it was Rush City Mn.... Not far, just across the river.  Would have dragged that old WC home in a heart beat if I had known.
As for his actions, all I can say is your character is what you make yourself to be, who has had influence on you, who you hang around with, and how/what you observe . Then the trials in life also shape the persons thoughts and actions. Location also has a big role in the play.
Rush City is a rural area that once were many beautiful farms, and some ugly ones too which is normal in any location...  But there was a seed planted , the seed was a new prison and it provided many a place of employment. And then developments were established and houses were built.  No doubt that a scenario like this happened to this 15 acre farm... Lands sold off for housing developments.
Farms of any size will one day have a premium value if its all together, but when I do not know. Tho for this 15 acres parcel, it is history to think it would ever again be an 80, 120, 160 acre farm. much less even a 40.  That could even give some people troubles to think about..  It does me to think of all the places that have been chopped up, divided and overrun with expensive shacks.
Well I guess I rambled here to long,, the Vid did make me sad too,.The words he spoke and his actions were of a youth.
One thng he should do is put down that camera and get a job where he can get a foundation in his life again.

I recall when Rich was helping him get his B running and he seemed to have it together at the time.  Was Lanse the one that went to live with his father and tried to get back to the farm when he had time off from school?  His videos at that time were interesting.  I also thought about changing my screen name as several people asked me about my videos when I would post something thinking I was him.

I volunteered to spend a day and help him out with stuff he couldn't figure out when we were visiting family near where he lives/lived at the time. You can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink...

I saw the one where he scrapped the rest of the WC. It was a 34, by the way. Saw the cast steering wheel in one of the other videos. Even seemed to have the starter tank in good condition. None the less, it and the B are now gone from this world.

I think we have all done things like that or said things like that at one time. Mostly associated with age. The older you get, the more you realize you don't REALLY  know.
In a way, the video is bad, but I hope that in a few years, he can look at it and a feeling of regret comes over him. If so, that means he is growing up in the right direction.

Lanse, if you're reading this, remember to have a little respect for those who have helped you along the way. To them, your actions may look like contempt or disregard for what they have done. Do not be surprised if help from that direction may be hard to come by again. Sometimes you burn bridges and don't even realize you dropped the match. Some people are forgiving, some are not. It's all part of life, and you will learn it one way or another. I just hope you can see fit to hang on to the farm and the land that is in your family. You may appreciate it one day. I wish you the best of luck.
I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

Give the kid a break.   I for one have never met Lanse in person, but I dealt with him twice buying parts.   Once was a set of footbrakes for a B, and recently I bought two rear spoke rims off of the WC that got scrapped.   Both times I have dealt with him have been good transactions, and I would not hesitate to deal with him again.    He's a young guy, who's trying to learn some things on his own.   We all don't know his story, but I'm sure many of us were probably viewed the same way you all have viewed him, when we were his age.   Many of us have turned out alright, and that's with years of successes and failures, buttchewings and buttkickings.    The thing that I've always appreciated about Lanse is that he's trying to learn things about old tractors.   He could be inside playing video games or doing other mindless things that many young people do all the time, but he's not.

We all might not agree with some of the things he's done, and some of us would love to save every AC tractor.   There may or may not come a time when he regrets parting and scrapping these tractors out.   One will never know.  But don't be so quick to judge the guy.

I have no use for people like him. There are so many people that wish they could have what he's got. As far as people sticking up for him, (I'm not trying to start a war here)  it's not like someone went to his house and made a documentry of white trash in america. He made the movie himself and then posted them on the internet for all to see. He doesn't take care of his animals, he obivously doesn't know how to operate a lawn mower, he shoots out the windows in his own barns, stuffs fire crackers in the breaker box and complains about the bad stuff that happens to him and his equipment even when its his own fault.

I don't think it has anything to do with him having to "grow up". He's a idiot, plain and simple.

had a kid come to me and ask if there was anything he could do to help me! sure!! i asked him to start dismantleing an old "g" combine, wanted to get the grain tank and hyd pump off, showed him where the tools were and went back to planting (in a field next to the combine) kept watching him go in and out of the shed for tools, watched him lit up about 30 cigs! i came in as i finished the field. looked, saw tools scattered all over but nothing taken apart! he was there about 2 hours!! asked him whta the problem was? he said he needed a torch to take anything apart! told him to go home!

well,  I bought some B parts from him and he treated me right.  Hopefully he'll grow up a bit.  If I remember right, was just him and his mom-probably has something to do with it...
Thanks

Well, God Bless him, the kid is in over his head.  Not sure why he thought it was a good idea to post that video, but his immaturity comes through.

I've been in over my head many times in my life...recently, too, and I'm 56 this month. Someone has always given me a hand, a second chance etc. Thank God for 2nd chances in this life.

Seems like a lot of people on this forum have never needed help and have never been in over their heads....must be really hard to live your lives so perfect.

Yeah, I don't think you need a torch to take a combine apart. The only thing I can think of that would require a torch is if you were fabricating something or just dismantling something for the hell of it to never be put together again.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I've never owned a combine) but wouldn't the grain bin and other parts be bolted on?? I don't think they would weld the parts onto the machine.

The WC that lanse had was not a 1934 it was a 37. It had the standard 3 spoke steering wheel i tryed to buy it from him complete last year but he wasnt interested in selling it complete only in pieces. According to the serial number and all the pics he sent me the only thing that wasnt 37 was the hood. Guess you cant save all of them   nathan

My only concern about him or his activities is safety, his own and bystanders.  Time will tell if he survives his adventures. I certainly don't want to see him or others hurt or worse. I don't like to see anyone fail .
