 Topic: The big move (for me)

I am in the process of moving my collection to Wisconsin. 220 miles one way. The question I have is scrap parts, sell parts, or move parts. Many parts I will move but i hope to find homes for some of it. All my left over D19 parts need a new home. Two empty transmission casting, Three torque tubes, one still has the hydraulic pump in it. Wide front parts, gears and a few other parts. I could put this in classified but thought I would put it here as an Allis express if anyone is headed to Wausau from Mpls and willing to move some of my stuff. A new building for my collection is under construction now and hope to be completed in August.

What's the cost of hauling , loading and unloading time .Are the parts worth the time and storage space . When moving its a good time to let go . Just my opinion .

Boy, sometimes that's a tough decision. I moved a couple times over the years, and the second time I moved, I filled the steel dumpster. In my younger years I did a lot of engine building. I had blocks and heads and you name it I had at least 3 of each. That second move I just decided to junk the non hi-performance stuff ie-blocks, heads etc. to make the move easier. It made it much easier to move, but I did regret throwing out some of the stuff I could've used down the road. Oh well....... Steve@B&B

After many years of parting out B,C&CA tractors I was in the same situation in 2008. I looked at it this way; I sold off as much as I could a below market value. Anything that was run of the mill and easy to replace got scrapped. Then I moved the rest. However there were many NOS parts that I would have thought that someone sometime would have needed and I wish I hadn't stored taking up space for more than 15 years. As I am now most likely approaching the end of my time and now have my farm truck with the dump bed back running, I will be getting serious about scrapping ANYTHING that I can't justify a use for. I wish I'd scrapped more stuff years ago.

Bring it to Hutch, Lon's bargain discount tractor parts collection at the swap meet. If there is anything left , I am sure Lad, Laddy , Matt Jordan and a few others would haul it away for you. For the right price that is.

I have a 14 foot trailer. My first run through was about 30 loads. I think a dumpster is in order. Torque tubes and finales are not worth moving. Engines with cracks will go to scrap 20 radiators are going this week. Hard to throw things away. The story is my Son bought the home place where I grew up, my Dad grew up, and my grandfather farmed. I am putting up a new building and moving my collection next to his property. My house is for sale and when that sells I will build a new Shouse or barn dominion. I will continue working on Allis until I can't. My collection will then be my Sons.

When to the scrap yard yesterday and got just over $200/ton. Came home and started next load, crushed down an AllCrop 40 so it would fit on the truck that I'd tried to give away, those that had interest, expected FREE delivery along with the free combine.
