I can't get the hang of posting pics. I can get them to photobucket, and to here. I can't get a direct pic to post without going to photo bucket. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Tracy Martin

My pictures are too big to go direct. I have my cameras taking the lowest megapixel pictures, and still too big. I found a resizing website, and have tried it that way, but find it easier to just use Photobucket.

Dnoym - you mention that "you can set the size that you want" - is that something you do on Image Upload page and, if so, where do you do that? Thanks.

I followed CTuckerNWILs detailed directions to post a picture direct from my computer. it involved clicking on a tree, getting a image properties window, click on browse, Find the picture you want to post, open it, click upload, click ok in the small window that tells me to be patient, wait , a fuzzy piece of my picture appears in a box lower right. Here is where you resize to get the picture to fit the box. Did that and posted a crappy fuzzy picture and went back to the photobucket way. See what fuzzy means by checking the B/C seat post. It probably will work if what you upload is pre sized before you upload to the post. When I uploaded the picture the size was 1600 wide and 1200 high
The instructions say not greater than 800 wide and 600 high which was still way to big. I think I went down to 400 and 300 to get a fit and lost all clarity.

if you keep the same aspect ratio for the picture it should turn out fine. to figure this out take the starting width of your picture divided by the height. now take that number times the new height you want and the new width should be what you get. as long as the new width and height are smaller than 800 and 600 respectively you should be fine. now that i've made it even more confusing.....i best just go to bed

Oughta be easy.....but it isn't, thus far! Would be a lot friendlier if the upload page automatically resized pictures to stay within a size that's easy for viewing (ie, no scrolling) and remained in proportion.

Tracy I email the pics to my self that I want to post and then post them. My email shrinks them to send them faster and they fit the forum. I don't use photobucket anymore.

One note guys, the picture size can not be anything random. You have to maintain the same proportions, height to width. All the instructions above are spot on, when you come to the image size window. I usually divide those numbers in half. Mine usually come in at 1280 X 960. I then resize to 640 X 480. Once in the reply window you can drag the edgs to size down furhter. Click on your image and the four corners and midpoints will light up. Just drag from the corners, and keep the height and width even. Visuals of above notation:
Hope that helps..... Edited by Jeff(WD45-SATX-TN) - 30 Jan 2010 at 10:27am |

Steve,
Just got done with a farmers / tractors collectors breakfast, 15 of us gathered and are planning the summer season in downtown plainfield. we got a chance to shoot the bull and look back at last year. Ready to have a good time and screw up traffic on tuesday nights staring in june! The best was 2 weekends ago I brought home a friends Farmall 706 and parked in the drive way for 6 hours to work on an electical problem, the neighbor wouldn't even look at me! I only wish it would have beeen there for a week. Danny |
