I have one of these that I use every year. I have used it behind a D17D and it works just fine. Have used both to rake and ted when needed. Mostly I use it to rake behind a 5030, which is a good combination - but the D17 is fine. Value at auction? - depends on condition, distance, and how bad you want it. Hard to tell from the picture, but it actually looks to be in pretty good shape --- has the stand, and the special AC ball for the hitch.  I would guess somewhere in the 300 - 400 range would take it.

Used to be a ton of them in fence lines and some being still used about 10-15 years ago around here. Scrappers got most now. There is a boned out one in Dad's woods. Don't try backing them up cause you can snap the rear wheel assembly off according to Dad. You can set different raking speeds and also tedder with them. Dad liked the one he had.

The one we had when I was a kid had both wheel that pivited and you could not run the old WC wide open in high gear or it would shack.
