Hey guys. I have some Planet Jr wheels, cultivator shanks, clamps and shoes and want to build a double tool bar for my Allis G. I need dimensiions to accurately recreate one. I've shown the didmenstions on the enclosed image. Could anyone who has one measure it and send me the dimensions I've marked?

I will get these measurements for you when I get home from a business trip.
I should have gotten back this morning but it's been pushed back about 24 hours.

Dick,
I have 3 of these double-bar cultivators at my home near Atlanta, GA and a 4th at my dad's farm in Indiana. I am not able to examine the Indiana cultivator at this time.
I remember dad talking about "Willie Ecker" cultivators - Willie was a local welder that apparently built these double-bar for farmers in the neighborhood.
In looking at the 3 cultivators that I have access to here in Georgia, I think one is a Willie Ecker model, one may be home-made or maybe not and the third one appears to be an Allis-Chalmers model.
The only reason I think the 3rd one is "stock" is due to the fact that it matches the drawing in the manual exactly. The one that I stated was "home-made or maybe not" matched pretty closely but it only has 2 drilled holes (not 5) to receive each of the mounting bracket legs.
I will use the cultivator that appears to be stock Allis-Chalmers for the dimensions that I'm going to list.
I'll post the dimensions for the mounting brackets in the next post.
A= 1 1/2"
B= 3/4"
C= 12 3/4"
D= 63"
E= 28 1/4"
F= 25"
G= 9"
H= 2"
I= 2"
J=2"
K=1"
Notes:
E is measured to the opposite side of the angled brace's width - weld might have influenced the measurement (everything else is pretty much round measurements) but 28 1/4" is what it looked like to me.
F is measured to the closest side of the angled brace's width.
G, H, I, J & K are all measured from the end of the bar-stock to the center line of the hole.
The drilled holes take a 3/8" bolt easily but not a sloppy fit.
It appears that the "C dimension" pieces are set in about 1/4" from the end of the "D dimension" pieces. Distance from one "C dimension" piece to the opposite end "C dimension" piece is 62 1/2".

Dick,
I am uncomfortable with the accuracy of most of my measurements on the mounting brackets. Measurement "N" being the exception: N= 6 1/2" and is 3/4" x 2"
What I'd like to do is take the brackets off the cultivator, trace the bracket on a piece of paper and mail it to you.
Send me a private message with your address and that's what I'll do.
Best regards,
Scott

One more thing about the mounting brackets. The "bent" part of the assembly is the same bar-stock as the rest of the cultivator - 3/4" x 1 1/2".
The part that is defined by the "N" dimension is different bar-stock - 3/4" x 2".
Best regards,
Scott

Dick,
Got the tracing done and will get it in the mail tomorrow.
When I took off the Attaching Arch Assembly, I found 2 bushings in it. I just pulled out my Parts Catalog for Model G implements and, sure enough, bushings are mentioned.
I think that confirms that this really is an Allis-Chalmers Double Tool Bar.
I measured the holes as best as I could and it looks to me like they are 5/8" and then the bushing was inserted.
The forward hole is centered 1 1/8" from the end.
The rear hole is centered 11/16" from the end.
Note:
The ends of the arch assembly are not "neatly" cut. As a result, the measurement from the end to centerline of the hole was difficult to determine with complete confidence. The above measurements are as close as I could determine.
Best regards,

Dick,
An additional note regarding the drilled holes in the cultivator "frame" (G,H,I,J,K)...
Regarding these holes I had written the following note:
G, H, I, J & K are all measured from the end of the bar-stock to the center line of the hole.
The drilled holes take a 3/8" bolt easily but not a sloppy fit.
I was looking at the Implements Parts Catalog this morning and I noticed that the Attaching Arch Assemblies call for 7/16" bolts to attach them to the culltivator "frame". So that defines those holes better than my original note.
Best regards,
Scott |

I believe that that most pieces when manufactured are cut by shearing and holes are punched, which is why they are a little hard to get a good measurement.

I've looked closely at the pictures and I can't see the "open-V cross-brace" (my terminology) that should be there.
Best regards,
