we overhauled a 16hp briggs for a customer a year ago i think the only rod still available from briggs was standard also the only piston avialable is 30 over if you grind the crank you have to have an undersize rod there are only standard cranks still avilable some of the balance gears, cam and other parts are not we had to use ablock from a small lincoln welder and use a new crank rod piston some of that model did not have pionts so do not mix up the flywheel if the tractor is driven off the flywheel side you may be able to just use the whole saying because there are quite a bite of those old welders around that still run good but do not weld any welder or generator engine will have a tapered crank on the pto side you could have the crank welded the engine mensioned above had a welded crank and was still turned 10 under the person inthis engine before realley messed it up

The undersized rods are still available through Rotary and Prime Line. The original Briggs # is 390306. You might be able to find an NOS one left over on eBay if you prefer to have an OEM rod. As for pistons:
STD = B&S 390364 Sub to # 792365 $ 66.50 List .010 = B&S 390365 Available only through ROTARY aftermarket. .020 = B&S 390366 Sub to # 792367 $61.95 List .030 = B&S 390367 NLA through all outlets. A lot of the aftermarket items can be had pretty cheap through www.tulsaenginewarehouse.com Edited by ACmowerguy - 04 Jan 2015 at 12:15am |

sorry a bout that sould have checked stock on some off the parts . the tractor that i mentioned stoped running one day about three months after we over hauled the engine so the customer brought it back for warranty. would not start had spark but would not fire. the mag neto on that engine can be moved sevral degree s before and after tdc. messed around a full day changing timing checking valve clearance carberation had the briggs tech department on the phone, it would pull an arc off of the spark plug wire 1 1/8 inch to the block but the engine would not fire the briggs guys had us send pics of it making that much arc long story short i got the polarity indicator out of my tool box and started checking wheels off of engines in the scrap pile somhow the mag net had changed polarity used the wheel of the doner engingine was also out in the scrap never missed a beat since
