I was lucky enough to inherit a 1949 WD that my Dad bought new, and a 1951 WD that my Grandfather bought new. Dad bought his first because grandad wasn't convinced that tractors were better than horses. I guess the '49 changed his mind.
They were both purchased from my other Grandfathers dealership which makes them extra special for me.

The first tractor was purchased in 1938 by my great-grandfather. It is a 1938 styled "WC", I bought it in 1997.
The second tractor was purchased by my wife's great uncle. It's a 1952 "CA" which I bought in 1998. The third tractor I purchased for my wife in 2003, it's a 1948 "G". The fourth was a 1965 "D-15" which I purchased in 2012. The fifth was a 1958 "D-14" which was purchased in 2015. The sixth was a 1948 "WD" which was purchased in 2016. The seventh was a 1957 "WD-45" which was purchased in 2016. The eighth was a 1966 "D-15" which was purchased in 2017. The ninth was a 1951 "WD" which was purchased in 2018. The tenth was a 1949 "C" which was purchased in 2020. I forgot the HD5G which was purchased in 2016 Edited by DennisA (IL) - 14 Mar 2020 at 10:09am |

I stiil have and use often a 1951 WD and I was there when the tractor was unloaded from the Morrison Implement Company truck! Bought by my father and grandfather, and then first used that night to drag 5 dead cows out of the alfalfa field, where they had died of bloat!

My brothers have our fathers D17 and 4 furrow plow purchased new from the local AC Dealer in 1957. The tractor is now retired on the seventh generation family farm in Eastern Ontario. I own our 185, purchased new in 1975, and it is retired as well, at our cottage, a few miles away from the farm. Both provided outstanding service to the farm and will remain part of the family.

Dad bought the 1952 WD I have in the very late 1960's or early 1970's prior to 1973. He has the bill of sale somewhere in his tax papers. He has all his tax papers and receipts going back to when he first started farming. He gave the WD to me in the middle 1980's. It was stuck from setting and he had robbed the distributor off it. I got it running sometime in the late 80's. First tractor I bought on my own I bought in early Spring 1987 just before I graduated from high school.... a 1961 D19 gas. It is still in my shed.
