I was lucky enough to inherit a 1949 WD that my Dad bought new, and a 1951 WD that my Grandfather bought new. Dad bought his first because grandad wasn't convinced that tractors were better than horses. I guess the '49 changed his mind.

They were both purchased from my other Grandfathers dealership which makes them extra special for me.

The first tractor was purchased in 1938 by my great-grandfather. It is a 1938 styled "WC", I bought it in 1997.

The second tractor was purchased by my wife's great uncle. It's a 1952 "CA" which I bought in 1998.

The third tractor I purchased for my wife in 2003, it's a 1948 "G".

The fourth was a 1965 "D-15" which I purchased in 2012.

The fifth was a 1958 "D-14" which was purchased in 2015.

The sixth was a 1948 "WD" which was purchased in 2016.

The seventh was a 1957 "WD-45" which was purchased in 2016.

The eighth was a 1966 "D-15" which was purchased in 2017.

The ninth was a 1951 "WD" which was purchased in 2018.

The tenth was a 1949 "C" which was purchased in 2020.

I forgot the HD5G which was purchased in 2016

My brothers have our fathers D17 and 4 furrow plow purchased new from the local AC Dealer in 1957. The tractor is now retired on the seventh generation family farm in Eastern Ontario. I own our 185, purchased new in 1975, and it is retired as well, at our cottage, a few miles away from the farm. Both provided outstanding service to the farm and will remain part of the family.

Two of the best, of the many great models produced by Allis Chalmers

I found a receipt where Dad got this WD NF in 1962. Since then it got worked over to what you see here. Dad passed in 89 but I got to hang onto it and it's in need of another going over.

Dad bought the 1952 WD I have in the very late 1960's or early 1970's prior to 1973. He has the bill of sale somewhere in his tax papers. He has all his tax papers and receipts going back to when he first started farming. He gave the WD to me in the middle 1980's. It was stuck from setting and he had robbed the distributor off it. I got it running sometime in the late 80's. First tractor I bought on my own I bought in early Spring 1987 just before I graduated from high school.... a 1961 D19 gas. It is still in my shed.

Dad rented his brothers farm in 1955. Along with the 320 acres he and Mom owned, he bought a new 45. He put me on the seat that summer. I passed it on to my son last year.

Grandpa bought my dad a new "C" to start farming with. Today it sits at the ready with a Woods 5' mower. In the day, he used it for row crop cultivating. My dad bought his 8070's new that I still use. We still have a WD45 with a Gleaner E engine. It has been a loader tractor for decades. The 1938 UC is a tractor that dad bought for me. But maybe the praide of the farm is a 1936 WC with 2r cult and side mower. We have the original bill of sale. It has a step down trans.

RW, if you're asking about our WD45 engine swap? 4 cylinder gasers.

the way I understood it,he has a WD he reworked to end up with a 6cyl gas....basically using diesel componets

Date Posted: 14 Mar 2020 at 9:16pm
Yes, it is a 6cyl gas motor in the WD. I remember he had gotten a WD45 diesel and used all the components for the swap. I don't know why he chose not to fix the diesel. He got the gas motor from his BIL who owned the White dealership in southern Missouri.

A lot of the old 45D's got 4cyl gas transplants after the diesel crapped. Too much $ to fix em plus they weren't reliable the way they got used.  Guys were not into warming up and cooling off engines.

I think the conversion looks nice. The swap to gas is fascinating to me. I understand the difficulty getting rare diesel parts their reliability issues and making it cost effective and keeping it going. A WD45 diesel is a rare bird in our area and I had not seen or heard of one being converted. At first glance I was not thinking about six cylinders potentially having similar power and cid to the four cylinder cid. I was thinking about the engine being similar to D19 262cid engine or even a six cylinder version of the 226. Kinda like the 6060 with a 7000 engine.

My Dad bought this WD 45 new in 1954.  He moved it to three farms we rented and finally to the one he owned but never left the county until I moved it across the state.  As I've stated before, I have more $$ in the tires and rear wheels  than he paid for it new and he got a planter, cultivator disc and plow, none of which are still around.

Not mine but dads...belonged to his grandfather this ‘42 B (along with my daughters cheesy grin because she’s driving the WD to her FFA banquet that day) that he bought in ‘45.Now if we could just buy back my grandfather’s CA he bought new in ‘53 everything would be right as rain.
