I have a wd , one of the expansion plugs in the head was rusted threw and letting coolant by. I replaced the plug by just tapping a new one in.I started the tractor today after being down for a couple months to find water was seaping in around the plug. Was i sapost to put any sealent around the plug? What is the exact size is the plug? What sealent should i use ? I also installed a new radiator today and noticed a brown substace bubbling out of where the headgasket is ? Any help would be much appreciated!

Any of the steel plugs that I installed, I always put Permatex around the plug then tapped it in.

You have to have the rim/lip on the plug. That's where it seals.Dad always smeared Permatex #2 on them.
