It has been to long, but I think 1,2,3, and reverse in low and then 4,5,6 and high reverse in the high range. The short lever is the high/low. Cannot remember if high is forward or back. But only 2 choices.

I found a PDF online of the operators manual for the HD9 and was able to download it; it does NOT give a very clear picture of the shifting pattern though.

The manual does state that there are six speeds forward and three speeds in reverse. From the picture it shows the middle shift lever as being the High-Low selector and the one on the right side being the main selector.
