Was this a sales mans case from AC

Sure is a high price for a decal, without documentation better than a story on e-bay it should be worth $20.00. The rest of the story isn't worth the paper it would be written on without some hard facts and documents.

Seems if the Navy had AC rep on board they would have more than salesmans case. After all on board ship nothing to sell but lot of AC to service in electrical, pumps, reductio gear , generators and such.

Thats a good story ; just not quite true , just my honest opinion

Plus look at the orange all the way around, it is different from one side to the other. I'm no artist, but if I was going to make a fake reproduction of something to sell for big bucks, I would have tried to do a better job on it.

This case reminds me of what I see everytime I go to work.

I'm a pilot with Delta Airlines. When I arrive at Delta Flight Operations in Atlanta one of the first things I see are racks containing hundreds of "Flight Kits". A Flight Kit is the case that holds the navigation publications and other stuff we carry on each flight. Delta specifies that these cases have to be black. So how do pilot's find their particular Flight Kit in this sea of black cases?

We customize them! Most pilots have some special sticker or some other identifiable item that allows them to find their kit quickly.

I'm guess that's what this item is as well. It's probably not official - it's probably a finding aid for the traveling salesman or a device to keep his case from being grabbed accidently by someone else that has a similar case.

Another possible reason in addition to the above, if he was a rep and the military was his customer, there's a good chance that Seaman Schmuckatelli was tasked to pick him up in a military vehicle at the Train/Bus Station. The A/C logo would have helped the lad to find him.

ok I don't know why it keeps doing that, but I have seen two sale brief case. one is for the agricultural and it was brown with the flap that flips over with and hole in it for the handle. the flap has one clasp in the middle and the ac diamond about an inch above the clasp. the other one was black and was industrial, both were from the late thirties to the early fourties by the literature and paper work in them. I know who has them and he is an good friend and that all I will say. the one one ebay looks like an arts and crafts project. But I have been wrong before. thxchuck

Fred, Do be careful. I have my father's Allis Chalmers briefcase. It is not like that by a long shot.

I viewed this item on e-bay and realized that the owener had just put a decal on the case so he could identify it. This is not an official Allis Chalmers Agricultural Dealer Case. I do not have a picture but they were much more elaborate with a three ring binder built in showing Allis Chalmers Information and many pockets for literature, price books, note paper, etc.

In fact, my son sent it to Nan at Old Allis News for her records. When Nan Sold the Business I contacted her and requested that she send it back. I was very glad to receive it back in original condition.

One of my prized posessions along with Pop's Price Book.

That suitcase has been on 3 or 4 times, each time he raises the starting bid.... Pretty soon it will be so high someone will get an idea it must be worth something!
