Here are pics of both sides of front cover one side has an opening with cover on it other side looks normal to me , when i compare to my other 2800 engine dipstick is on opposite sides, what do you think.

I think you clearly have someones idea of making a diesel timing cover work on a gas engine !!!! There is no governor here to control the carb!! I have no idea what your plan is, but this isn't going to work (ever) the way AC intended. You can see the hole where the injection pump use to be has a homemade cover over it. The crankshaft pulley looks to be one from a combine because it has an empty wide groove for the hyd pump?? Eng dipstick under the carb is the way a combine was set up so it was easily accessible, but it will work on either side.

my intentions are to swap out the cover from a gas 2800 engine that does have a governor as it should, that I have sitting in my shed to replace this diesel engine front cover on this engine that is currently in the tractor . If this is in fact a combine engine than will the replacement of the cover work ok ? (without too many issues)

NO, NO and NO.....combine covers have no hydraulic pump drive !!!!! it has to be a GAS tractor cover to work on a tractor.

the engine i have comes from 190 gas tractor, that is the front cover i would use to replace the one that is on this combine engine, the engine that is in tractor now or maybe i should replace the whole engine since i cant get cam gear off.
