Thge 190xt gas I use for Snowblowing starts hard, it fires but babbles around until it has a mind to start hitting on all 6. Then it is fine. If it is plugged in it also is fine. Appears now i have fouled a plug and will replace. Recently replace the cap, wires, points and condenser. I also run Heat in the winter to avoid freez up. Any ideas?

Sounds like a typical 90 HP gas tractor to me.....hand on the choke knob for the first 10 or 15 minutes and then once warmed up OK fine.

I just came in from installing a pertronix conversion kit to electronic in the distributor. The old girl runs smooth now, shaft has to much play and it was hard to keep a good point gap.

I had the same problem. Started adding octane booster to it instead of heat, problem solved.

Dad's old XT gas was always a good starter in the cold. Never had a block heater until the mid 1990's but when it was real cold he used to cover it with a canvas and used a knipco heater to warm it up while we milked the cows just because he thought it was too hard on it to start when it was -20˚. Used it just to move round bales to be fed until I bought the D19 with an aftermarket 3-point.
