would not be exaggerating to say that this tractor has the potential to be put into museum quality condition. It is not there now - simply a very good restore - but it would be a strong candidate for that level of restoration
REALLY!!!?? dude is on crack!! Hell I could spend another 2000 to repaint the poor thing! Well you know what they say... their are two things in texas..... steers and HIGH PRICED POORLY RESTORED ALLIS CHALMERS!

I think you are being a little rough on Texans.
If you want to see a top notch Texas B, check out Gary's 1938, that he and Ken did back to as original as they could figure. Now that is a sweet machine, and you know it was done right. Would somebody give Gary $2k for it? They might, but I bet that Gary wouldn't be getting his money back out of it!

GLENN, YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT I HAVE A WHOLE LOT MORE THAN THAT IN MY 38 BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO RESTORE TO ORIGINAL AND YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT HOW MUCHH YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND,I WOULD SUGGEST YOU NOT DO IT, IT CAN GET VERY EXPENSIVE,BUT GETING IT BACK TO ORIGINAL IS PART OF THE FUN OF DOING A COMPLETE RESTORATION .---I LIVE IN TEXAS,IAM A STEER NOT A ....... I DO HAVE A HIGH PRICED COMPLETE ORIGINAL RESTORED 1938 MODEL B A.C.

Allallis2 owes Gary and I an apology. And it is not a SIMPLY A VERY GOOD RESTORE as anyone with eyes can see. Gary and I have much higher restoration standards.

The problem with spending 2000 or more for this one is that it looks to me that to take it up to Garys Texas B you would have to take it down and spend another 2000 or more.
When a seller states that things (seems) alright is a lot like those selling used pistons, sleeves and crankshafts and say they (look good). Better eyes that I would have.
I emailed a fellow about a set of used pistons and sleeves, where he had stated that they looked real good, and ask if he could measure them for me before I bid. He emailed me back and told me I was a bit to fussy to buy his stuff.

This fella says that it is an excellent restoration and is the "cream of the crop"He hsa been restoring tractors for years, including spray painting silver paint on the rear tires, and spray painting the spark plugs, and wires. What a joke! He claims is is all original colors?????????

I tend to agree with Dick on this one. Just because someting like a piston had no scuffing on it doesn't mean it's worn below any sort of useable limits.
Depending on what the evilbay seller had to fix on that tractor to make it runable, $2K adds up quick when labor is counted. Very few tractors can be restored for less than the fair market value when finished. I've spent more in engine parts/machine work on my series 1 D17D than an excellent series 4 sells for. I'll definitely have a silk purse made from a sow's ear when done. But then again, it's mine and not going anywhere for a long time.

OK you guys have just about covered everything wrong with this rattle can ovhl'd piece of crap. What you all failed to see is this is obviously a shill bid tractor. But then again what isn't shill bid on Ebay these days. I called someone out on it just the other day and WOW! did I get and email earful. How dare I accuse someone of shill bidding hehehehehehehe.
Just watch and see if it sells but miraculously will show back up with bidder didn't pay excuse. |

Shill bidding and paypal fraud is why I don't spend any time on evilbay anymore. I have to be desperate to find something I can't get anywhere else to buy on evilbay.

If you look close you can see there are rust pinholes in the sheetmetal in one of the pictues too. Thats what museum quality is all about. |
