Rebuilt starter and it is now switched from 6 to 12v.
I replaced coil/points/condensor and rotor .
I was wanting to switch it also to neg ground but not getting power to the coil once switch is on.
It will really crank over very fast but no spark. It still has the gen but not connected. It will start if I crank it then touch the gen wire to the starter but shut off once I remove that wire .
What am I missing?
Looked at my cousins d15 and his I400 both are 12v neg ground
if farming was easy everybody would be doing it

When switching to neg ground the wires on coil need switched and so does amp gauge. Sounds like coil is gettin power from generator ?? Should be the on position on key switch.   Shawn.

Cousins two tractors are wired different at the coil but both work.
I ended up switching it back to pos ground and got that result. Neg ground I had nothing.
I was wondering if I had to wire the gauge different
