Wait until you get old, then do a recount.

Hello,
I should have been more specific. Having difficulty with main bearing clearance. To be conservative the crank mains were ground to 1.990" but the repro bearings are not up to spec on shell thickness. They are a whole .001" to thin and produce .004" clearance. NOS TRW bearings can get it down .003" but .002 or so would be much better. I've been told that when the factory put these together they would take advantage of production variances in the shells to make things right so aside from regrinding the crank to .020" I am hoping to find actual Continental .010" under bearings. The Allis Chalmers parts book does not show .010", they want you to go to .020" so maybe I made my own problem. Another but pricey solution would be a NOS crank kit but might be hard to source. Thank you for reply. Edited by TeeRex - 09 Jul 2024 at 6:18pm |
