I've been thinking about an AC garden tractor for years.  This one is close by, but it is expensive.  Could someone tell me the model and if $950 for a non-running tractor is fair or not?  Thanks.  Seen here:  https://jacksonville.craigslist.org/grd/d/1972-allis-chalmers/6478351527.html

It appears to be a 314H, Kohler engine. Since it has 3 point, its most likely to have electric power take off. The H is for Hydro. A picture of the right side would verify. The 400 series had the model decal behind the Allis Chalmers decal on the hood. A good looking tractor but I feel its overpriced by $500. Especially as a non running tractor. New points, condenser, possibly a coil, carb work and your going to be over a $100 just in parts. Again, a good looking tractor, kept inside is obviously a plus.

Thank you very much for the detailed description!  I needed that.  I thought it might be a tad over-priced.

Is the extra engine he shows one that could go into this machine?  I'm wondering why he shows another engine.  Is the main one blown?  I need to call.

The extra engine is not an extra...it's the turbo blower for the bagger trailer. Also it doesn't have a 3pt hitch. It's the standard sleeve hitch that they used up to the late 90's on the 918. That is all period correct and I don't think it is over priced for all of it if that is something you are looking for.

I t's more than I would pay--You don't know how well the hydro works. I prefer the 900 series, partly because they have posi traction and you usually get a running one for less$

Thank you.  I read elsewhere that parts for the hydrostatic transmission in the 314H can't be found.  I think I'll pass on this one.

That 'extra' engine(B&S) is for the leaf vacuum pickup system. engine powers a vacuum between deck chute and trailer, that has  abig 'bag' for the leaves.
While $950 is  a lot for a nonrunner, that vacbagger system  probably cost 2K. I'm thinking $700 for all, asis-whereis, should get it. I know I cam resell the vac/bagger for 700 any day of the week up here.
