Was looking at a new carb that is bigger for the wd after we go through this winter, looking at new ones they are way too much, I have heard of drilling the stock ones out, but how big of drill bit is needed for a 240 cubic inch motor with a cam reground for stock or slightly higher rims? Or is there a cheaper way to get a new one, I have a marvel schebler on hand but was told it was smaller ( by pank I think so yeah) is that correct. Also how do you know how big to drill the stock carb out? Ps I was looking for carbs at Tony's tractors and they were 400 dollars and will a d17 carb fit, I know a wd 45 will

The B- C carbs have a sleeve insert in the bore that can be removed and reamed oversize. I worked on a WC carb that also had a sleeve... Does the WD- WD45 carb have that ? Boring 1/16 oversize and a bigger main jet will get more air and fuel to the cylinder, if you got the rest of the motor ready for that !

I have no clue if a wd and a wd 45 carb has that, the motor will be gone through this winter, just getting some parts lined up for it so I won't have to wait this winter

We have used the carb from a 262 gasser. Some of them don't have an adjustable jet but you can get it in a rebuild kit. I think the carb on an XT is the same but has a bigger venture. It's a size bigger were the manifold and carb meet. Just match the hole or try to get to the same size. A 230 may have a bigger carb too.
