I have a 56 AC CA that has a 6 volt generator that was converted to 12 volt. It works ok but its putting out 18 volts instead of around 14 volts. Is there anything I can put in line (generator to amp gauge) to cut the voltage down to 14 volts?

it would not be uncommon for the generator to put out 18 volts or more without a REGULATOR to control it. I use to go to Auto Zone and just get on for a 1968 chevy pickup ..... pretty standard.
