Seems like everything had a cig lighter in the 60's-70's. Wish my 8070 had one so I could charge my phone! One of them "get aroundtoits".

Yeah like Charlie said the seat frame pins can be a challenge . I did both of our D 15s . Also on the clutch pedal shaft I used 3 bushings , cut one in half . Worked well . Your D 17 may be different . Good Luck !

I was unaware until I got my series one that a cigar lighter was available, and mine has it! I’m not a smoker but I thought that was neat lol. Have 2 new clutch pedal bushings coming to take the wobble out hopefully. Also the rubber boot over the manifold heater push button. SLI had both in stock. Going to start taking the seat frame apart tomorrow, hope I can save it. It’s really worn. New bushings and seat shock assembly have arrived also. Having a good time with it so far.

Diesel is easier for a 433-T transplant because the clutch shaft is shorter than a gasser and for power steering there's 3 more inches of room doing hydrostatic steering like I did.

Hey ,Doc which one -gas or diesel would lend itself to a 433 installation ,does it matter?

Received a box full of goodies today, steering wheel, gauges, seat rebuild parts if the frame can be saved, 2 latch rebuild kits, bull gear pan gaskets. I know those have never been off, so it’s probably full of crud. Also waiting for some used parts to be shipped. Getting along pretty well, old steering wheel is being quite difficult to remove. Soaking it for a few days.

Nice looking tractor !!
On a side-note, did the '17 have the raised, chrome lettering on the side hoods on certain years ?

I know what you mean. I have a family WD45 that I restored and love. I got a D17 SIII gas last summer and it is sooo much nicer than the WD45. Power steering, A regular seat, nice slow reverse for backing up wagons, and A hood that comes off really easily. I think you'll really like it.

Got my 82S rear pto assembly moved over to the D17 today. Machine shop is making me a new bracket that goes from the end of the pto support bracket to the bull gear drive housing. WD bracket is too short. Neat how this mower fits so many models with minor changes to the mounting system. Looking forward to having power steering and a PD. Also got the wielded on steering wheel nut off, soaking the steering wheel to hopefully get it off tomorrow.

Removed my 82S mower off my WD this evening. Kinda sad now as the ole WD I bought a few years ago and replaced a lot of parts on to make it right needs to be sold. Hasn’t been started since late October and she popped off on the 1st turn over on the 6V battery that wasn’t even put on a charger over winter. Replacing the battery cable with wielding cable made a huge difference. Wish I had room for her but I don't. Goes up for sale shortly.

Thanks Dave, maybe next fall after fixing some leaks and using it this summer she will get a correct paint job and decals. That’s the plan anyway. Needs a steering wheel immediately, this one is hard on the hands. My list of parts is quite extensive lol

Ryan has the mount I need for my 82S mower so I’m very pleased to hear that. Will be doing some mowing hopefully by next week. Will be so nice to have PS instead of pure muscle on the WD. Looking forward to PD also.

Doc you are lucky to have salvage yards close by, I do not. I will see what is inside when I remove the modified part. Steve I will get the generator sent to you at some point for a rebuild. Sheet metal has no dents.

I suppose the old cast manifold connection was cracked and leaking so this was a 3 hr fix, instead of a 15 minute correct fix. They obviously didn't need a remote outlet. I am so lucky to have AGCO dealers and salvage yards in my area.

I’m planning on moving my 82S mower to my D17, one of the main reasons for buying the D17. Just need the mount at the pulley location. Power steering and PD were the best upgrades. Sad to see the WD go but with the extra 600 lbs on the side makes it a bear to steer at slow speeds. Would like to keep the WD but don’t have room for it until I get another shop built.

Thanks Steves and Doc for chiming in. This has been the confusing part, as I said it appears that some parts have been changed out in the front end. That’s why I asked. Let’s face it, we all have a accident trying to get closer when we park them or for what ever reason have a brain fart and just run into something. With that being said I will begin to look for the correct grill and radiator shroud. Over all I am pleased with my purchase, she is an ugly duckling but has great potential. You can only find out so much in a 20 min test drive but I was very pleased with my time on it. Will see after I get it home Sunday after church. Buying it from someone I personally know makes a difference. I hope she turns out as well as I am hoping for. Any clue to the rear hydraulic hose and why it was done? That’s the only mystery I have.

Interesting grille screen and radiator shell. That is a 57-58- early 59 grille screen, prior to s/n 24001. That screen only uses two retaining bolts on the lower sides. The top is held in place by a couple of tabs that fit into slots made in the radiator shell. The parts match each other. The next gen grille screen was the black screen with horizontal braces. They required four bolts/nuts to retain them. This supposedly happened at s/n 24001 and up.

Haven’t figured this out. Not sure why this was done but I have the hydraulic outlet with transport valve to put back on. Looks like I will need the pipe that feeds it. Assuming there is a hose inside feeding the hydraulic lift for the lift arms?

Muffler has to go, eventually a big double wall chrome stack for tractor pulling, then a factory correct muffler for use on the farm.

I wonder if tractors like that came off the line correct but a farmer or dealer for whatever reason ,such as damage, put on a different replacement grill or side panels. Even in cases where motors transmissions and rear ends don't match someone pieced good parts together to keep it running. They weren't worried that 60 years later it wouldn't be correct.
