Wellhowdy. I got my head back today from the machine shop and what a beautiful sight to see! I can’t picture myself slapping that thing back on my ole block that has one dished piston... so I decided I’m goin to at least get a flat top to match the other3 as well as new rings and wrist pins and of course it get all miked up.
Bearings Seem fine to my eye and touch. As well as the Lobes on the bumpstick.
Lookin for input and suggestions from anyyall out there in AC Orangeland with familiarity in WD engine buildin specs. Hints and tips from the ones who have been there and done that! This Tractor does alot of hard work for me and my lil farm.
Thanks to everyone out there for all the help!

57,
New complete kit may be the way to go. More money than one piston but then you would have a matched set, and the rebuild would be good for many years.
Head and manifold look fresh and ready to go.

Thanks man !
Yea I figure that’s the best is to have all 4 new.   So what do ya no about the 45 kit as they call it in a WD block. Been doin some reading. Looks like a crank and pistons and it’ll be fine with my short head. It be nice to have that extra power. Is it worth it I’m wonderin

wd cylinder is 4x4
wd45  is 4x4.50      I think you would need a 45 block to put the 45 pistons in it.   Plus the crank is different but I'm  not sure what the is.  I think wd will have a shorter stroke.
Bear in mind I am not an expert on this.  Maybe some one with more knowledge will chime in.
My personal OPINION  would be to just put a WD kit in it.   No fuss no muss

Beins im already scrapping pennys togather fer this bottom end job it’s lookin like tryin to do the 45kit is just gonna be to costly. And like I’ve said before that WD had more than enough power to do what I need before any TLC. Can’t imagine the after results
Thanks

Tim's offer might keep your budget intact. I think I may have a couple 4 inch WD flat tops too. Not sure of condition?
WD45 crank should work in the WD block. But the farther you go the deeper the water!:)
I am going to have way more in the tractor I am doing, than I will ever be able to get out of it. My goal is for one of the great grandsons to pull it about a dozen years from now!:)

Chris

The 4 1/2" stroke crankshaft of a WD45 fits right into a WD block, but you need to use pistons for a WD45. The air cleaner is bigger as is the carburetor on a WD45. Looks like you already have a WD45 manifold.

Another thing to think about is the sleeve O-Rings. You don’t know how old they are. Time is as hard on them as anything. It would be a shame to do all that work only to find coolant in your oil one day. If I was in your shoes and I could find the money. I would put a new engine kit in. Shop around. Last one we bought for the 8050 got a heck of a deal from minpar. All ago parts. Good luck

57,
Great projects just take a while. I have had the same concerns on the tractors I have worked on. My WD could use a engine kit. Just not sure I want to get into it.
Good luck with your tractor. Some good suggestions and lots of information here to help you.
Regards,
 Chris

Best tip is to get everything machined and balanced properly, technology has come a long way since those engines were new. Full rebuild now and you'll never have to worry about it in your lifetime
