Co worker picked up tractor fever. He is looking for a small antique tractor.
He thinks a B is too large. I mention Farmall Cub, Massey-Harris Pony JD L/LA. Are there others he can consider? |

A Pony and a Cub are the same size as a B. Sounds like he wants a garden tractor.

He could get an AC B-series garden tractor, a JD 110, or something similar...

A family member already has a G. I think a B weighs about 550 pounds more than a Cub or Pony. I showed him pictures of the larger garden tractors, he said that's a lawn mower, not a tractor. An old Speedex with ag tires he wasn't too hip on.
I showed him a picture of a 190 and he said that's a tractor! Then showed him a picture of a 720. Called it a lawn mower. Is the Massey-Harris Pony a good machine? He wants to tow it behind motor home to tractor shows. What do we need to do to put him behind the wheel of a tractor today? |

If a B is to big and every thing that you showed him didn't suit. How serius is his tractor feaver?
I always considered the B as SMALL.

Tell him you have done what you can and he's on his own. If a B or Cub won't work then that's that.

He needs to pick himself up a book on Tractors and thumb through it to see what he likes and go from there. Sounds to me like he's going to be looking a loooong time before he finds what he likes. You showed him a lot of "small" Tractors. I'm wit' Lonn, he'd be on his own..... B,C,CA's, Cubs, 2N's, 8N's, 9N's, they're all small Tractors that he could have a lot of fun restoring. How bout' a D21? Nice small Tractor.... |

A Leader would be another one and not to common if that would excite him, otherwise I'm with those who said you have done your part.

As guys have said, he seems 'picky' OR is he looking for the rare one, as some have suggested. If he himself does not know what he wants then I am with the others...let him take time looking.

There all one bottom plow tractors. The G is so different from the rest, I guess I don't classify it with any of them.

He will be hitting as many tractor shows as he can to check it all out.
You guys have come up with a bunch of larger garden tractors that I didn't know about. Maybe I need to get out more often. It would be fun to have a fleet of Allis 720's, Economy Power Kings, Case 180 ,the Panzer, JD 420, Gibson. I heard of a Renault garden tractor with a 4cyl water cooled. The D10 and D12 have the looks. One would look good and proper parked between my C and 160, throw in a D14 also. I wouldn't mind a JD 1020 either. or a Mini-Mo. My dad used to joke that were are going to farm until we go broke. I think I will add to that, or collect tractors until we go broke. |
