Steve get one of the mags. that feature restored cars. In there you should be able to find a company that does reproduction tags. I,ve seen them on cars at car shows and they look perfect. In fact you should have a car show coming up soon close to you. Talk to one of the guys there. Prolly the first one you talk to will help you. Leon R Cmo

In the 70's every engine that was made in the Harvey engine plant had a I D plate attached to it with 4 rivets.
Stamped on it was the engine series, serial number and catalog number. |

I remember seeing those tags on the G-262 in C-2 and early model F Gleaner combines, so 1966 and up. I just don't remember any D-19 tractor engine G-262 and D-262 ever having any of those tags and they were done by early 1964.

No tag of any sort on my 262D, but the 301 has the nameplate with model and serial number.

Maybe, if it was 1964 and newer build date? Like I say, I don't remember ever seeing a tag on a D-19 gas or diesel and I was around two Series 4 D-17 diesels in the late 70's and can't say I remember a tag on them either.

Please post a picture of that area on the block. If it's what I think it is, that's where the factory (Harvey engine plant) would install the "Options" metal stamped tag. When an engine was built for a customer other than AC it would go over to department 76 (commercial products) for a build as per customer order. What was added to the engine wether it be clutches, alternators, sheet metal, radiators, starters, ect. The catalog number for each options group was stamped onto a metal plate and attached to the block with rivets. That "tag" was about 1 1/2" tall and about 8" in length.

That is the pad where the Harvey engine plant would attach the options plate when the engine was built for a customer other than Allis Chalmers.
