After some more explanation on his part, I think this is a shaft that has to be pulled to remove the hydraulic pto clutch pack from the bottom of the tractor, not the actual PTO shaft sticking out of the back of the tractor. Thanks Tom

Thanks Doug, he had it out 3 months ago, now he has to go back in to find out why we are low on pressure, probably a seal, can't get the shaft to budge out the front. He has to fix 3rd gear. Can you get to this stuff from the top? Tractor has factory cab, does the cab have to come to fix this? Would it be easier to drop the tranny and fix PTO and 3rd gear with the tranny on the cement floor?

The PTO is separate and not in the transmission.  It is at the bottom of the torque tube just behind the clutch housing.  That is the easy part of the job.
If he is trying to fix 3rd gear because it is jumping out, the entire transmission will have to come out and get torn down to get fixed properly.  There is nothing that can be done from the top to fix the issue.  I never had to deal with a cab tractor, but I assume it might be best to remove the cab in this case.

Cab does not have to come off.
To get PTO housing to slide forward, the two dowel pins have to be pulled out first.
Trans. and PTO are not togather.  MACK
