i have a chance to pick up a styled wc but im not sure what yr it is. it has the orignals tires on it yet but they need replacing. the motor is stuck but the trans is free. my question is would the wc rear end bolt up to a wd45. if so how much less weight would the wc rear be. another question would the gearing be any different such as first being faster or slower. thanks in advance

I think you would have to swap everything behind the motor to get a WC in a WD45.

ok the only draw back i would see is that id lose the foot brake deal .. it should be close im thinking

You would lose the hand clutch and I'm not sure what a WC has for hydraulics.

They are both orange, other than that they share very little in the way of parts that interchange . Next time you are at a tractor show check them out and you can see for yourself.

well i had heard that some guys use a rear end out of a RC and swap in.. but maybe that was just the diff.. suppose to be lighter.. just going by hear -say

Most people just swap the gears, not the rear end.

I would guess that the RC has lower gears because of the motor and they use those in a WC, but not a WD.

What does an RC have to do with a WD45? RC's and Hi-crop WC's have a lower gear ratio ring/pinion . Thats all. They won't work in WD or WD45 diff's.

Rob If you are looking for low gearing I saw on e-bay a couple of weks ago where a man took a WC, removed the rear housing and differential and installed a wd45 trans axle behind the wc transmission which gave him 16 forward speeds and a double reduction in low thought this was a good set-up so i called the guy and he explained how he did it by removing the in-out box on the wc and installing a short slip/spline between the two transmissions.

wow with that set up a guy wouldnt need to speed big bucks on a motor after he installs 38's for pulling. but you would have to run in the open class or something like that
