Spring center absorbs some stress when clutch engages, stops the shock load from transmitting . Solid center allows this shock but is less forgiving on any alignment problems as hub and disc are riveted to form one piece.
Button clutch has a higher friction coefficient and is either engaged or disengaged and allows little or no slippage .
I use them in my tractors, crawlers, heavy trucks, but one has to be careful also as they will wear pressure plate and flywheel faster if slipped that a fabric clutch will. When installing the flywheel should be refaced to clean ground surface first and same with clutch cover.
