MattB sent me these pictures of his D17 with a 301 in it.

Looks great!

Matt, tell us about the conversion and what you had to do.

That is just cool. So I assume you are getting 70 or so HP out of it?

How does it pull?

I always thought of putting a 200 ci from a 6000 series in a 17 or 19.

I SURE WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE PICTURES OF THIS ANIMAL ! I THINK ITS COOL ! THERE IS LOTS OF RESERVE HORSEPOWER FOR A 301 !  I SEE IT HAS A SIMMS PUMP ON IT . THAT WAS A REAL EARLY 301 ... DOES IT HAVE THE PLATES AT EACH END OF THE CYLINDER HEAD ? YOU COULD PUT A TRICK 11MM A -PUMP ON IT AND SOME NICE INJECTORS THIS WOULD BE A NICE SLEEPER. I SUPPOSE THE CLASS WILL NOT ALLOW TURBO'S ? LOT OF POTENTIAL UNTIL THE DRIVELINE OR CLUTCH GIVES OUT.
IF YA CAN SOMEONE WAS ASKING FOR A VIDEO THAT BE REALLY NICE TO SEE

Probably a hybrid gen set eng. the LH fuel pump block off has hole pipe plug and block off for RH oil cooler is different color.  Most of those were freeze plugs on early 2800's.

A natural asp 2800 with a Simms - I have never seen - but then they made a bunch of special apps for special orders.  IF it has the bubble in the front of the oil pan then is was not an early eng.   Fun trivial stuff
