Does anyone know if a tach from a 180 work on a 170. I know the part numbers are different but they look the same to me.

I believe they turn the same way, off the rear of the alternator.  The markings on the face will be different, PTO speed, MPH, etc.

The one i seen said it was off a gas 180 but the face looks exactly like the one on my 170 diesel.

Check the PTO at governed RPM marking on tach face and match to specs for the tractor
