taking the beans off around here , combine the field next to me yesterday and the dust was so heavy I could not see the red combine, then looked out back and most of my place was shrouded in a cloud of dust.

here in western Iowa we are going strong on the beans, but it is so dry the fire danger is extreme. beans only test 8.5% moisture but good yields.

Corn is about all done in west TN with yields very good. Neighbors started on beans this week and saw some cotton fields already picked near Jackson TN. Drought conditions early on hurt some areas to the south and west.

Should have the F2 rolling in the beans friday. Go straight into corn after that. Early corn was around 24 % this past weekend.

Started on beans today, running 11-12% but only about 35 bpa. Corn was about 30% yet. Driest september in recorded history @ about 1/3" for the month and october not looking better.

In maryland we have had nothing but wet weather. Since the hurricane dumped 8 1/2 inches on us, we had 5 1/2" the following week, 2" the following week, then I think we had 3" last weekend. It seems like we keep getting hit with these large rains. Fields are extremely muddy. Most dairies didn't get their corn chopped due to the mud.

Dean
We planted our corn and soybeans early June after it dried out since then it was a drought we harvested the wheat good crop 88 bu/acre corn and soybeans were in drought it had not rained June and July we needed a rain desperately after wheat harvest we attended the Gathering of the Orange excellent show while away the rain started it has been raining since until the past two weeks. Corn and soybeans look like a better than average crop just need more dry weather for the next too weeks to finish driying down the crop. |

25 bu wheat and now 35bu beans not quite a bumper crop. Corn is still pretty wet but is getting better with the 80 plus days, it's not going to be like the 230bu crop last year but hopfully 150-160. Edited by Dean/MN - 06 Oct 2011 at 8:57pm |

In SW Minnesota, the beans are nearly all off and corn harvest is well underway. Yields are down due to the dry August and September. An early frost didn't help things any either. A lot of beans under 40 bushel. No drying fuel is needed, however.

Running beans hard in Northern Indiana.Yields are 20 to 60,and the pods are busting open and it looks like you went out with a fertilizer spreader and spread soybeans solid.

Started beans yesterday here is SE MN. They were yielding 55-65 area and around 13% moisture. We should finish beans today and then get into corn yet today or tomorrow.

Beans are DRY here. Some pods are starting to pop and they are dropping on the ground before the combine gets near them. Lots of losses from shattering at the cutterbar this year....

My neighbor finished his beans today. He cut the 40 acres yesterday that he bought from my family last year and was very pleased to average 74 bu/acre on the 37 tillable. I think he's still smillin cause his wife said they sold most of them on contract for $13.60/bu
