Parts I need for my front support finally came in. The seal for the shaft retainer was a concern because it looked like a sweeper(felt)on top of a seal. The book only calls for 1 oil seal. As I described this to Brenda, she showed only 1 seal and it wasn’t nearly as thick as the original with no felt sweep built into it. Only seal available for it. Once the old one was driven out it is clear that it was all one seal and 2-3 times as thick as the new one. My concern is, this seal was driven down on a shoulder which made it flush with the retainer face. As it was designed. With the new one driven down on the shoulder it will be far below the retainer face. Should I order another seal and stack it on top of this one and drive it flush with the retainer face? My only other choice is to find a NOS seal from someone. Suggestions please

Good Morning Robbie and Merry Christmas
I can’t speak to the seal for the steering but I remember the same issue on the rear pto seal on a D14 or 17 and ended up doubling the seals and worked fine.

Yes Mike, with 70 in front of it on the AGCO site.
I will see if anyone has a NOS first in the next few days, if not I will double seal it. Thanks everyone for responding. |
