Could someone tell me what active ingredient & the name of that heavy duty diesel anti-freeze that the Doc recommends us to use, and if we use that coolent can I remove the water conditioner kit thats on my engine? Thanks Dave

Heavy Duty diesel coolant with SCA's (supplemental coolant additives) to protect from cavitation erosion. Coolant is a reddish pink in color.

The red ECL antifreeze will also prevent cavitation and doesn't require an additive.  You can keep your coolant filter running any red elc coolant, but need to make sure you get the filter without the additive in it, just a filter media.  If you use a coolant that needs an additive, you can get a filter that has a buffered additive cube in it to keep releasing the additive as needed.  

My go-to is usually the Delo ELC or the Rotella ELC coolant.  Both readily available.

YES, 71 series are dry sleeve, 53 and 92 series are wet though.

Just a question, but would there be any problems running the red heavy duty antifreeze in regular gas engine applications, other than perhaps being more expensive?  Just keeping one anti-freeze mix around would be simpler, and if it adds some additional protection even if not needed in a gas motor, why not?  Also, is it compatible with the green stuff if one added it to another cooling system?

I'm not a coolant expert by far however look at the constituent product base(s). If Ethylene glycol based they should be compatible. Don't intermix propylene glycol, and ethylene glycol based coolants as they are basically incompatible.

you can basically run any antifreeze in a gas engine... as long as it is CLEAN and you dont MIX varieties as Codger said.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

We run it in everything. I would jsut do a flush before I started adding and mixing it.
