Question for hd6 dozer

Can u ground out starter(hot side and ground side) to get dozer to turn over as long as batteries r up to charge? Could starter be bad?
What should be voltage be at starter before and while grounding out? No generator. Thought solenoid contacts where bad but we replaced

Don't know what is going on as I responded and a bunch of garbage was added to the post. Here we go again.

You cannot land both your battery positive lead, and the negative lead at the same electrical potential.

What you are asking is to separate the starter solenoid from the starter motor and that is common to do as a bench test. Post a good photo of your starter and I'll guide you further as don't want to hurt you, or equipment. Most of those use a Dyer starter drive but it could be a Bendix and the procedures are different.

Your starter has a contact section for battery voltage to energies starter motor , but a manual advance for the drive to engage flywheel ring gear .
Starter motor is grounded through machine itself back to battery ground of battery itself .
HD6 should be 24 volt - + / - should not matter to starter , but to charging system it will.
