For the past month I've been working on a 7010 PD that I purchased.  It was used on a small farm along side a 7060.  I appreciate all of the help from the forum members.  So far I replaced all of the inching pedal wear parts to get the trans brake working again (pin, bushing, cable, ends, etc.), installed a cab kit, added suitcase weights, wet sanded and buffed the original paint, flushed the coolant, replaced engine oil and filters.  I've been around AC tractor a long time and what has really surprised me about this 7010, is there isn't any leaks, zero!  The tach works but the hour meter doesn't anymore.  Thought you all would enjoy some pictures.

I have a 7010 PD and I don't have any leaks either.  I just thought the prior owners took good care of it.  It had an engine rebuild about 800 hours ago so that might have helped too.  No hydraulic leaks anywhere yet.  I do use my 7010 to cut hay and round bale.

Maybe the small farm means light work and little wear.  It doesn't look like it has a bunch of hours.  Does your A/C work?   I took my stadium lights off and replaced with LEDs.  I have John Deere cab steps which has a nice handle but they aren't original.  I will be doing my cab kit this winter.   Got any pictures of your new cab kit installed?

That is a nice job on buffing out that paint too.  Looks really good.  Are you going to use it or make into a show tractor?

I still plan on repainting the cab top, and rims.  I also installed one of the cab door shock kits, which works really well!  I plan on using this 7010 for mowing hay, square baling, light tillage work, spraying, and pulling wagons.  It has a 134 style AC compressor, but the wires have been disconnected.  The radio doesn't work, so that is my next project.  What's the best way to get the radio out?  Remove the cab top?

allis picker,
That 7010 looks very nice! Thanks for posting the pictures. I think if I had the funds I would have something like that to help our daughter keep her farm brush hogged.

Allispicker, Great job on the paint buffing! Congratulations on owning one of the several awesome AC 7000 series tractors. Does it have 3.625” or optional 3.75” rear axles? What year is it?
Serial # years;
1979, 1001-1924,
1980, 1925-2805,
1981, 2806-3433.
I like that your 7010 has stadium lights & dual remote mirrors. I used grote flood 63831-5 & tractor plus 63821-5 replacement bulb for my 7060’s LED conversion. They fit right into the AC’s original light metal housings, hookup wires, reattach the outer housing bezel, and good to go.

It's #2881 so a 1981.  It has the standard 3.625" axles.

Yes, remove the top and the radio and everything is quite accessible.  However, I had a really hard time finding matching speakers and radio.  The new speakers of this size actually have protrusions that disallow a flush fit like the old ones.  I ended up making a spacer bracket to push the speaker away from the grill.  You will also have a hard time finding a radio to fit the slot.  They make old retrofit radios for old cars but they are quite pricey at over $200.00 and still not sure they will fit the slot.

I ended up getting a marine amp that had bluetooth connection and just connected the phone to the bluetooth for music or radio.  The speakers connect to the amp.  I made a plastic plate for the on/off switch for the amp that covered the radio slot.  Otherwise, you will have to cut a slot in the metal cage to fit a modern radio.  A modern radio also requires a lot of space on the back and I think it would rub up against the metal top.  There is a cheap radio circuit board on amazon that I may try.  You have to wire and solder it up yourself but it will fit with a blanking plate.  The antenna will be the next problem to solve, if I go this route.

One of the problems when fixing the radio from the cab top is that you can't be on top and in the cab at the same time.  So find a helper that can be on top or in the cab otherwise you will have to clamp stuff from behind.

It is a great round baling tractor with my JD 467.  I also use it on my disc mower and works great.  It is a bit big and uses a lot of fuel for raking.  I have an older JD 214T small square baler and it is almost too big for that little baler.  Making hay isn't that hard on it, so with a little wash down, it can attend a parade or two.

A couple of other things.  I saw recently in a catalog where someone is selling replacement flasher yellow lights in LED that match that size we have.  Mine are very faded and dull.  So, I hope to replace those.

I kept my stadium lights in case I wanted to revert back but one set was not standard anyway.  AC7060IL has a good idea on those to keep original and get better brightness.

My mirrors work, but they are cracked.  Honestly, I still need to get some wider mirrors.  I can't see much around equipment with the stock mirrors as they are just too narrow.

calico - great information regarding the radio.  I'll pull the cab top off and see what the issue.  Maybe I'll get lucky and it is a broken wire!

Not sure my radio was original but it was actually not a stereo.  It was a mono FM radio.  That's why I moved on.  My radio worked but with new speakers sounded like crap.  My speakers were shot and probably original.  After my changes, stereo sounded great in the AcoustaCab. :-)  Even if it is a wire, you may want to do something else.

Also, it is quite easy to "pinch" various wires when reinstalling the cab roof, so make sure you tuck them in or protect them before reinstalling the roof.  You may also find some wires that need splicing or are rubbed raw to bare wire.  I did.

To exSW's point, yes, let's see that new cab kit job when you can get pics.

That 7010 is a beauty. I'd like to find one like it to use for a planting tractor someday.

This is a very nice looking 7010...I would leave the cab roof and rims alone they don't look that bad to me and plus they look to be factory paint still not many out there can say that...if you do repaint make sure to get the cloud white color not cream.

Who actually sells that Cloud white paint color?  AGCO ignores it in their paint guide I found online.

That is one nice looking tractor. On my 7000, I put like a 12", white, flexible, marine application antenna.  For the speakers I made two boxes of 1" square, painted black wood. Then screwed that to the inside of the cab, did that w/ the roof off. Then screwed the speakers to the boxes. I'll take pictures if needed.

I used rustoleum canvas white as a substitute for AGCO branded cloud white. I tried the rustoleum antique white as I read that was a close match but seemed closer to cream color to me.

cottonpatch,
Thanks for the hint on the canvas white. I have never seen that color yet, maybe new? Yes the Rustoleum antique white is cream looking to me. But I never have been much on correct colors!
That sure is a great looking 7010 Allis that allispicker has here. If mine, I would take the time to clean and paint the wheels too. Yes a lot of work, but it would look really good!
Regards,
 Chris

Thanks for posting this.  So, looking at my cab and looking at this comparison, canvas white is closer.  Is it possible that some early 7000 series would be canvas white on the top of the cab and some later models would be cloud white?  Seems like you would use the same white color on the wheels and the top of the cab too.

Maybe cloud white and canvas are really the same color, just different names by manufacturers?

I updated my post to reflect canvas white is a close match IMO to cloud white. Sorry about my late night slip.

This is a front wheel on my late model 185 that I touched up with rustoleum antique white which I had read was a close match to AGCO cloud white. It looked closer to cream to me. The picture doesn’t capture this very well.

Perhaps some fellow AC loyalists can critique which is a closer match to original color. It’s been 40 years since either Tractor was new, and I was in my teens when both were purchased new......

Cottonpatch,
Nice work on the rim/hub. Looks like more than a touch up.
These are good examples along with the sample panels from plummerscarin, and should help allispicker choose a very close white for his project. With those big rims it might be easier to spray with a gun? get automotive with hardner and have a even better job than spray cans. I use them but dont always like them.
So what were the D series white color? I thought they looked more cream, but I may be way wrong on that? I just use the cream because it seems to look good with PO#1 in my opinion. My WD series tractors are not color correct.
Regards,
Chris
