I've been working on my Dad's old pickup, put another motor in it, freeing up the hinges and cleaning it, I moved it out of the publics eye, and did dismantle parts of the engine in case someone knew it was there and wanted to rob parts. anyway, it was a rust free 1967 Chevy 3/4 ton 4-wheel drive, with a 4-speed. I go up there to it the other day, and it's GONE! then I see that one of the stockholders emailed us saying he sold it for $165. WTF???? and how did he come up with $165.??? it had a $2000. motor in it, and was rust and dent free! them miserable POS stockholders are gonna make me break some laws real soon! and they won't tell me who they sold it to, I thought maybe if that dude didn't haul it to the crusher, maybe I could buy my motor back at least! or buy the whole truck back. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!

OK, I gotta ask , who'se got the pink slip, ownership, title, or whatever piece of paper that say 'I am the owner' ??
I know you're upset but.....a legal beagle would say he who has the title can do what they want. My $400 Milwahkee MG saw 'grew legs' some time ago...had 2-3 hrs on it ,3 new blades, case and all.....I have a GOOD idea where it is but can't say squat about it. sumthin bout muther bear protectin her youngin thing.... If YOU have the ownership, call the cops, report stolen truck....sit back and have some fun. I feel for you though... Jay |

Time to gather up all the receipts on the motor, photo copy them, then list on a seperate piece of paper the amount and and then tell them that they have 48 hours to pay you back + the percentage that truck was worth on the open market... not what the dam nitwit sold it for. and all sales are suppose to be held with all parties in agreement..., not one jerk a$$ whole that deemed it was time to sell it.
Maybe it is time to put a stop to their stupid and force a liquidation of all property that was listed under parents names... and sue their for all the grief they have caused you. |

Don't see how you have managed to stay out of jail this long. Like JC says, maybe it is time to liquidate and cut all ties with the . Glad I don't have any stockholders to deal with. If the one that sold the truck did not have the title to it he needs to spend some time in jail as well as make full restitution.

I guess my question is, unless the truck was specified as going to you in the will why invest 2 thou in it if it was before he passed, if it was after why invest 2 thou in something that is part of an estate? Nothing wrong with doing something nice for your ageing parents but ya gotta realize the what if's before they happen. Being part of an estate brings out some real ugly in some people, ugly ya aint never seen before. I'd be pushing liquidate and divvy if it was me before things really blow up.

I can go get a new title for it, but still will be in Dad's name, the one POS stockholder had the power of attorney on Dad. he wouldn't budge on including us other 2 in on that! why put that engine in it? I had the engine, was rebuilt and balanced 327 CID, in stead of tripping over it in the shop, I put it in the truck just before Dad passed, the original engine in the truck was a 283 CID and had froze and broke. Dad was only able to drive it a couple times before he passed. he knew it was my engine and it was really never discussed. and I really wanted to keep that truck up since it being a rare 4x4 back then. it was the 2nd 4x4 3/4 ton farm truck in the county at the time. only problem with it, it had a wood floor in the box, and we all know how that turned out! but that's a minor thing. i'm starting to heat up again, I guess let the email wars begin! and if I see him on the street....

One thing I learned from my greedy "elder's" death (not sure I even want to call him "granddad") is to always get anything major like that in writing before they die. Even if something is universally known like that, everyone will play dumb when it comes down to fighting for it.
Luckily, on my '51, it's still in my "good" grandpa's name, but no one else in the family wants it. Being rather indifferent about it, they wanted to just put it in the farm museum, so I took it instead. Got one "good" side of the family (Mom's side), and the other side are the "stockholders" (Dad's siblings), with my '65 F-250. Same deal with them as you, Shameless...one had the power of attorney. Nothing fun about it. One question....I'm guessing the truck wasn't at your house? Was it at your Dad's place? (Assuming your Dad's place is shared by everyone now?)

My Mom had an old Regulator train station clock that my daughter was fascinated in the pendulum going back and forth as a child Mom put a handwritten note in the pendulum case saying to was to go to her. The protests were beginning to surface when we cleaned out her belongings but after the note was passed and handwriting verified it did go to my daughter without the traditional fistfight.

In Georgia IIRC power of attorney ceases when the grantor passes away. But I am not an attorney nor do I play one on TV.

That's a terrible thing to have happen to you Shameless. Wish I knew how to help you out. That body style, and being three quarter ton, and four wheel drive is a collector pickup. Whoever bought it has to be laughing their ass off about the deal they got. And your "stockholder" should get drop kicked right in the ball sack. Darrel

I found the truck. it's at a dudes 10 cent garage, I stopped and asked if I could buy the motor back or even the whole truck? he said he wanted $7500. as it sits. WHOA! that's a heck of a good profit from $165. maybe it'll gits restored after all. it just won't be by me anymore! I did see another old CHevy pickup about a 1950 this dude has for sale at $30,000. guess it won't be coming back home. thanks Joe, i'll wait patiently for them seeds!

Shameless I kind of sort of understand. When I left the farm I left behind a very slick 1952 Ford F1 and one of my old totaled out dirt track cars with a very expensive and stout 351 c. My brother hauled them to the scrap yard. I called and told him to take all his profit and pay the body shop bill for all the work they did on the 52 . He about had a fit when I told him what he owed. He hates anything old.
Also our farm that was supposed to go to my brothers and I including an oil check all go to my dads new wife and her kids. I walked away at 17 and lived happily ever after without them. |

shameless , have some fun..call the cops,DA, DMV and tell them where the STOLEN truck is. Get the cops to examine the paperwork...up here the OWNER not the 'seller' needs to sign the pink slip to transfer it.
At the very least, put a 'mechanics lien' on the truck PDQ !! You R&R the engine, that's 1,000 of $$$, right ?? !! That'll show up at DMV next time it's sold, and it can't be sold !! Life's too short to not have some fun.. Jay |

Think you need to tell them $hitholders that the truck is worth $7500 dollars and that it was done by a party that seen it.... and you want half since the engine was yours....
Like Jays comment tpp, specially the "Life's too short to not have some fun.. " Now go and have a BLAST!!! |

MMM wonder if you can go to the court and get some kind of legal stipulation that NOTHING leaves the properties without your consent or permission... after all, you were the one that took care of the folks when the others wanted nothing to do with them ...right?

Did the stock holder have a title to that truck? If not go back to that shop and see what the guy would give for it. Hel’ll trip over his feet if he thinks you have the title.
