My water manifold on WD is cracked.  Can I replace it with a D17 style?

I think they will fit, my only concern would be to leave out the thermostat on the D17 manfold, and I don't know about hot spots in the head, since the GPM of the old WD pump is probably not that of the D17 pump.  But without the thermostat, I am thinking you will be fine.  If you are not running heavy loads on it you will be fine, but if you are I would be concerned about the back two holes getting warmer than the front two, since without the extra GPM, there is really no reason for the water to circulate back there.  somebody else will chime in, to tell you I am over cautious, or just blast me, I am sure!!   :-)
