Did all 7040's have the reversible 540/1000 rpm PTO? Mine has always had the 540 out and I'm considering buying a rotary chopper with 1000 rpm.

540/1000 was standard, with 1000-only being an option. So you should have 1000 PTO, just remove the six bolts, pull the pto shaft out and flip around and install bolts in the inner bolt pattern..you can only get all bolts in with shaft lined up one way. Then crawl underneath and lengthen the drawbar. -Wes
