This is my first restoration project, a D17 series IV.  The fenders are bad.  I've seen some on the internet from Allstates, Restoration supply and Steiner but they look crude and cheap.  What do you suggest?

best would be to cut out the bad areas and weld in patch panels or find another factory set
Unless your are the lead horse the scenery never changes!!

Don't waste your money on those aftermarket ones. They are pretty bad.
A nice used set will cost you but you will be better off. Keep an eye on ebay.

Are the series IV fenders any different from other series other than mounting holes for lights and grab handles? Maybe some holes for the hyd control valve setup. Just thinking one could drill a few holes if that is the only difference. Thanks, Eric

Series IV fenders are the same as all other D17s (same as D15 too and maybe D17).  The only difference is the holes for the headlights/grab handle.  Hydraulic valve control does not matter.
