Help with 7040 alternator wiring

I want to switch to a Delco off an M gleaner. The Neihoff has 4 wires. Delco just 3 terminals. What goes where? Not woried about a tach as it isn't working anyways

I can get you started... The BIGGEST wire is the CHARGE that runs to the ammeter / battery.. It is the BIGGEST because it can carry 60 amps ... that is the LUG on the back of the case.

The two spades on top are normally stamped into the case as 1 & 2 or  R & F ..... The #2 is a HOT wire and can be jumpered to the LUG on the back of the case.. always HOT.

The other spade is the excitation...( #1 on the LEFT )... It is turned ON and OFF by the ignition switch.  Normally has a diode , idiot light, or resistor in the line to drop voltage slightly below 12 v to start the CHARGE..

I dont know which wire is which on the OLD alternator..  If you have a wire diagram with colors, you might be able to trace that.
